Corporate Governance

The Foundation is a statutory body established under the Australia-Japan Foundation Act 1976. The Foundation operates under the FMA Act and conducts activities in accordance with an Outcomes and Outputs Statement approved by the Minister of Foreign Affairs. The Foundation's current objective is; to enhance Japanese perceptions of Australia and strengthened bilateral relationships to advance Australia's national interests. This is achieved by developing targeted programs and exchanges and developing and disseminating information. Approved activities are outlined in the AJF strategic plan.

The Foundation operates with a small core staff and outsources work through contractual arrangements with outside providers. A list of current contracts is available on this site.
